LEARN MORE

Loving Christ,
Loving Others

We are a welcoming Catholic community called by God to live out the message of Christ in love and service to all people. Our parish mission is:

We, the people of Saint Andrew Parish in Wilkes-Barre, strive to encounter the God who loves us, to remain a community that welcomes strangers as warmly as we do our fellow parishioners, and to become the hands of God in a world in need of divine peace and love.

HALLOWEEN PARTY

AND CCD MASS

Sunday, October 26. The party begins at 9:45 a.m. Following the party, the children will take part in the procession during the Mass so our parishioners get to see them in their costumes. (Costumes need to be appropriate for Church.)

ALL SAINTS, SATURDAY, NOV. 1

We recognize all saints of heaven in a universal celebration. The feast serves as a catch all for saints we do not celebrate throughout the year, but it also celebrates the Triumphant Church of the resurrection. The saints are God's harvest. God has reaped the fruits of good sowing and gathered the maturing faithful into the eternal storehouse.

All Saints Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. at St. Leo and at 5:30 p.m. at St. Andrew.

ALL SOULS-ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED, SUNDAY, NOV. 2

We remember the deceased among the faithful who await their entrance to eternal glory. This day we pray for the rest, those who need forgiveness for their sins; who yearn to see the face of God.

All Souls Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at St Leo and at 11 :00 a.m. at St. Andrew.

ALL SOULS OFFERING

November is the traditional month for remembering those who have died. During this time, we pray in a particular way for those we love and to whom we owe so much - deceased family and friends. Fr. Dang invites you to remember your own families/friends with him. Send All Souls envelopes with the names of those to be remembered during Masses in November. It is his privilege to pray for those you love.

REMEMBRANCE MASS

Husband and wife or mother, father, and brother). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Meet Fr. Vinnie

Fr. Vincent Dang

Father Vincent "Vinnie" Dang was born in Vietnam on October 8, 1961.  His family lived next to the church where they would go to mass every day.  In seventh grade, Father went to a seminary in Vietnam before the communist government closed it.  The Diocese of Scranton’s Catholic Social Services sponsored Dang’s immigration to the area, beginning his life in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  Dang enrolled in St. Pius X Seminary in Dalton for three years, followed by four years at Immaculate Conception Seminary in New Jersey.  Father Dang was ordained a priest on June 24, 1995.

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."
