Ministries

Music Ministry

You are invited to join the music ministry of the parish under the direction of Mr. Jeff Papciak. Rehearsals are usually held on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. Use the church entrance near the handicap area.

Eucharistic Adoration

First Sundays of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Daily Mass Chapel.   The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by those who choose to pray before the Lord Jesus present in the Monstrance.

Finance Council

Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish and school. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budget.

Offertory Counters

A team that counts the funds collected at Mass each week.

Parish Pastoral Council

The PPC is involved in most activities and programs effecting the liturgical and spiritual life of St. Andrew Parish.

Senior Altar Server

Men and women who assist at Mass or Funeral Masses to enhance the worship of our faith community.

Stations of the Cross

Held Friday evenings at 4:30 PM in the Church during Lent.

Usher

Volunteers who assist people to their seat if necessary. They also take up the collection.

Altar Server

Boys and girls from grade 3 and above who assist the priest at the liturgy.  The schedule is published every two months, and parents may inform us as to when their children will be available. We are happy to acomodate parents' schedules.

Baptism Preparation

Parents are required to attend a pre-Baptismal class conducted by Deacon William F. Behm, Parish Life Coordinator. It is necessary to attend only once and not for each child to be baptized.  Call the rectory @ 570-823-1948 to register.

Eucharistic Minister

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

Flowers and Grounds

Volunteers are needed to care for and beautify the grounds and church.

Greeters

Parish volunteers who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass.

Lector

Reader who proclaims the Scriptures at Mass and other services.

RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments through informal discussions. 

Soup Kitchen

The parish assists the St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, Jackson St., Wilkes-Barre through monthly collections of food items.  The Kitchen is operated by Catholic Social Services and serves 300-350 peope with a full meal daily. A guitar concert also raised hundreds of dollars for the kitchen.
